Garry Elmer Hartman Obituary
Garry Elmer Hartman
October 15, 1935 – November 27, 2024
It is with a spirit of gratitude for the life of Garry Hartman that his family announce his passing November 27, 2024, at the age of 89, at the Drayton Valley Hospital.
Garry’s passion for horses and the mountains will always be remembered by his family and all who rode with him. Garry had a giving heart for others, as lived out through the love and hospitality shown to all who entered their home. This includes all who were like his own kids to him, along with the Foreign Exchange students from Africa that he and Rosemarie hosted. Garry loved to travel, but he wasn’t one to sit at the beach and twiddle his thumbs – he preferred “working holidays” and he and Rosemarie did many Missions trips to places like Mexico, Barbados, Malawi, and Africa. Perhaps not as widely known by all, but Garry was naturally gifted and he could pick up any instrument, play with it for awhile until he had it figured out, and then begin to play any song. It is fitting to say he has left a song in the hearts of his family and all those who had the great privilege of his friendship in their lives.
Garry will be forever loved and remembered by his wife and companion of 66 years, Rosemarie Hartman; his children, Lance (Karen), Greg (Theresa) and Tammy (Brad); his grandchildren, Kyla, Aaron, Ryan, Breanna, Sheena, Amanda, Kirra and Ashley. Along with his 18 great grandchildren. Garry will also live on in the memories and heart of his sister, Muriel (Jacque) Briault.
Garry was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Bertha Hartman; his sisters, Olive Adolf and Peggy Hughes as well as his brother, Grant Hartman.
The family extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for Garry at the Shangri-La Lodge and the Long-Term Care facility in Drayton Valley, Alberta.
A celebration of Garry’s life will take place at the Mackenzie Conference Centre, on Tuesday, December 10, at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Garry’s name be made to the Long-Term Care unit at 4550 Madsen Ave, Drayton Valley, AB T7A 1N8.
