Obituary of Jimmy Fyckes
Suddenly at the Brockville General Hospital at the age of 65, we announce the passing of James “Jimmy” “Jim” Fyckes. He is predeceased by his parents Harold Fyckes and Ruby and Douglas Connelly.
Survived by his wife of 40years, Cheryl Fyckes. Loving and cherished father of Ann Brayton (Rodger), Laurie McGirr and Zach Fyckes. Deeply missed by his 9 grandchildren: Caleigh, Taylor and Carter Brayton; Julie, Miranda, William and Rebecca McGirr; Braden Fyckes and AnaKuh Walker. Dear brother of John Fyckes, Tony Fyckes (Shelley), David Connelly (Beverley), and Albert Connelly (Christina). Predeceased by his siblings Joseph and Theresa. Survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Jim was an avid sports fan, volunteering his time with minor league sports and the St. Vincent du Paul golf tournament. He was a diehard Habs fan and would mock all others.
He instilled his love for baseball into his grandchildren, and enjoyed watching them play and thrive. He was proud of all his grandchildren’s accomplishments.
He never let life’s challenges get in the way and he thrived at everything he did. He was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Jim worked at Shoppers Drug Mart for over 33years and developed many lasting friendships throughout this time.
His family and friends will remember his smile, laughter, warmth, and unwavering love and support. He will live on in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Brockville Little League or a youth sports team of your choosing in Jim’s honour would be greatly appreciated. As per Jim’s wishes, no visitation or service will take place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
