Passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2024, two months shy of his 80th birthday, and after a year of struggling with diminishing health. He is survived by his wife, Anneta Skamis, of 46 years, their daughter, Evdokia (Kia) Kotsanis, and his two sisters in Athens. His family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Parkwood Hospital for their dedication and excellent service in looking after all his needs. They will forever be indebted to them for their good care.
Panos immigrated to Toronto from Athens in 1970 and applied for a job at IBM a few years later. His Greek background in drafting helped him secure a position in their service department, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. He worked in different cities including Venezuela, Belleville, and Ottawa, before finally settling permanently in Markham. In 1992 he won an achievement award in recognition of sustained superior performance.
He will always be remembered for his many talents in computers, his gourmet cooking, his knack for problem-solving, his sense of humor, and his ability to fix anything.
A memorial reception will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 12:00 -2:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Panos are asked to consider the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation.
