AMEY, Jane Ethel (nee Jackson)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful beloved wife, mom, and gramma at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital on Friday, October 25, 2024, just shy of her 87th birthday.
Jane, loving wife of Howard for 68 years, cherished mom of Mark, the late Howie, Penny vanKleef (Jimmy) and Kathy Riehl (Ron Thomas) and proud and exceptional gramma of Dylan (Christine), Krista (Shane), Kurtis, Tyson (Madalyn), Halle, Hayden and Kayla and amazing great gramma of Willow, Brycen, Colten and Cassian.
Jane was a caring and thoughtful person; she was always putting others before herself. She became a primary teacher, at the age of 17, teaching in a one-room schoolhouse. She was extremely passionate about teaching young children how to read. Other than her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally, nothing gave her more joy than seeing the pride on a child’s face when they learned to read for the first time.
She had many hobbies throughout her life, she loved to shop for the newest styles, sew, craft, paint, play the piano and she loved to dance. She and Howard would light up the dance floor whenever the opportunity arose. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Jane’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her home support PSWs, Leland and the staff at the Providence Care Hospital and to Dr. Carl Lee in Napanee for the extraordinary care that she received, and the support extended to the entire family.
In keeping with Jane’s wishes cremation has taken place and she is now with her heavenly family. For those who wish donations in her memory may be made to Diabetes Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
