Roy’s passing was unexpected, and it brings sadness to all who knew and loved him. Roy’s health began deteriorated after having Covid and complications with COPD.
Beloved son of Mike & Bonnie Reed, Proud father of Kaitlyn & Kyle his brother Robert and sister-in-law Deanne as well as many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends who loved him. Roy was such a wonderful and caring person. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Roy attended Burton Ave United Church with his children for a number of years.
He enjoyed being part of the fellowship & barbecue’s, going to Camp Simpresca.
Roy enjoyed helping people in need. He had been a volunteer at Sunny brook Hospital in the Geriatric department, also with Red Cross, assisting elderly home- owners with their yard work, A Telephone operator for Alcohol Anonymous, Salvation Army Drop-in center & Clothing Depot
Roy was diagnosed with Bipolar (manic) Disorder in his mid 20’s. This disorder caused many disruptions in his life. Roy reached out for help from The Busby centre and the CMHA Canadian Mental Health Association and had been getting help through them over the past 15 to 20 years. Despite his struggles, he would put them aside to help anyone in need.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Burton Ave. United Church (37 Burton Ave., Barrie, ON L4N2R3) followed by a reception with coffee & light refreshments
