It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce
the sudden passing of Denis Carroll which occurred on October 20, 2024
at the Moncton Hospital at the young age of
45.
Born in Baie Sainte Anne, New-Brunswick, Denis later
made Shediac his home. He is survived by his children: Matt and Lydia;
ex-wife and mother of his children, Candice Belliveau; his partner,
Claire Wearing; his brother, Marc and his mother, Kathleen Richardson.
Also grieving are his aunts and uncles, many cousins as well as
co-workers at CC’s Lounge and many, many friends. Denis met
his partner Claire earlier this year, and they quickly fell in love.
Together they rescued their beloved dog, June-Bug. They shared a deep
happiness that enriched their lives
together.
Denis was a vibrant soul whose love for music knew no
bounds. His first band, The Spits, started in 1996 and in 1998 was
renamed Shortsleeve and stayed that way until 2009. As the lead singer
of the band, he brought joy and creativity to every performance,
captivating audiences with his great stage presence and heartfelt
lyrics. His passion extended beyond the stage; he cherished jam
sessions with his bandmates where laughter and camaraderie filled the
air.
Intelligent and insightful, he was genuinely one of
the good ones—a person who remained true to himself in all
circumstances. Denis had a unique love for The Simpsons and Pez
dispensers, passionately collecting them throughout his life, a
testament to his playful nature.
Denis shared 14 meaningful years with his former
spouse, during which they created two beautiful children. Though they
parted ways, they maintained a strong friendship, united by their love
for their kids. A devoted father, Denis was immensely proud of his two
wonderful children, who adored him deeply.
His quick wit and unparalleled sense of humour
brought light to every room he entered, making him a beloved figure
among friends and family. Known for his kindness and gentleness, Denis
was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying
the true spirit of generosity.
He will forever live on in the hearts of his
children, who share his unmatched wit and spirit. Denis will be fondly
remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing
him.
