71 Years
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Allan Garth Dueck, a cherished husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle. Al left this world surrounded by the love of his family and friends during his final days. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at both CCU and the 6th floor at RUH, as well as the caring team at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, who supported him and our family with such compassion.
Al was a proud graduate of RJC in 1971, and in 1979, he married Diane Friesen, the love of his life. Together, they created a beautiful family, raising three sons: Jody, Josh, and Tyler. Al had a vision for his community and, on the very day his son Tyler was born in 1987, he founded Team Fuel Sales, providing fuel to the farmers of Laird and surrounding areas – a true testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to community.
Al was a man of faith, and he lovingly passed that faith down to his family. In 1982, Al was baptized at the Laird Mennonite Church, where he faithfully served the congregation for many years as a Trustee, Sunday School teacher, and Worship leader. His unwavering commitment to his faith was evident in the way he lived his life, inspiring those around him through his example of grace, compassion, and service.
A passionate sportsman, Al loved playing hockey with the Laird Jets and fastball with the Valley Merchants, but his true joy came from coaching his sons, where his enthusiasm and encouragement made lasting impacts. He cherished the memories made on the golf course with his brothers, the unforgettable trip to Minnesota with his sons to see the Jays, and camaraderie of curling with his family and friends.
Al leaves behind his loving wife, Diane, with whom he shared 45 beautiful years, along with their sons: Jody (Candace), Josh (Michelle), and Tyler (Julia). He was a proud papa to his grandchildren: Skye, Madden, Neveah, Emmet, Ellis, Charlie, Emily, and Jack. Al is also survived by his beloved siblings: Joan (Pete) Rickard, Ken (Estelle) Dueck, Harv (Connie) Dueck, Myrna (Keith) Wilford, and Doug (Brenda) Dueck.
He is predeceased by his parents, George and Louella Dueck, and his father and mother-in-law George and Katie Friesen.
A Service Celebrating Al’s remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, at Laird Mennonite Church at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4
Al’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will forever remain in our hearts.
