Charles Stimson Obituary
Charles Stimson, a long-time Calgary businessman, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, in High River, Alberta, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Medicine Hat, Charles began his career as a rig hand with Westburne Drilling, ultimately achieving co-ownership and ownership of several successful drilling companies. Known for his quick wit and love for teasing, he brought joy and laughter to those around him.
An avid golfer, Charles cherished his time at Highwood Golf Course and his many friends in Arizona. As they take to the greens, we hope they remember the laughter he shared.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Betty Ann Stimson, in March 2024, as well as his daughter Katherine and infant son Douglas.
He is survived by his daughters, Shelley Wurz (Henry) and Laurel Schwab (Mark); son-in-law Leo Wurtz; granddaughters Amanda Wurz (Andrew McGrath), Jessica Wurz (Andreas Gebauer), Alyssa, Megan, Charlie, and Colton Schwab; great-granddaughters Charlee, Elsie, and Evie; along with his sister Marie Payton and brother Jack Stimson, Half-sister Judi LeFebvre and Noel LeFebvre.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Charles will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
