Daisy Iona Naomi (Nichols) Westwood
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Daisy, our loving and devoted mother, nanny and friend to all whose lives she touched, on October 15, 2024. Daisy passed away peacefully at her residence at Saint Luke’s LTC in her 97th year.
Born December 4, 1927 in Nicholsville, NFLD, she was the eldest daughter of 12 children born to her parents Edgar Charles Nichols (1961) and Eleanor Grace (Legge) Nichols (1995).
Beloved mother to Gail (Brian) and David (Lisa) of Cambridge, adored Nanny to Travis (Mallory), Brad (Caitlin), Laura (Adam), Vincent (Christine), Bryan (Jamie) and Jessica (Nick). Great Nanny Westwood to a team of little ones. Daisy will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and 3 sisters Jessie, Effie, and Amy.
At the age of 18 Daisy left her small hometown of Nicholsville to move to Hespeler and work at Dominion Woollens. Daisy was a dedicated, friendly, hardworking young woman and made many friends, capturing the eye of the then “Town Clerk” Ross Westwood while skating at the Hespeler arena. The two were married and enjoyed their home and raising a family until Ross’ passing in 2003.
Daisy had a kind, humble soul and could never turn a blind eye to someone or something in need. She was always cleaning, baking, sewing, knitting for her family or a friend, or caring for a stray animal, especially her dogs and cats. She lived in the matrimonial home until December 2021 when she moved to Saint Luke’s Place LTC.

As per Daisy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date, with interment at New Hope Cemetery in Hespeler. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cambridge Humane Society or Saint Luke’s Place.
