Philip Curle Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Philip William Curle, fondly known as Phil, who passed away peacefully at the Claresholm General Hospital on Monday, October 8, 2024, after a brief battle with Alzheimer’s disease at 82 years old.
Phil was born on April 21, 1942, in Carmangay, Alberta, to Bill and Alvey Curle. He was raised alongside his older sisters, Doreen McNair and Joyce Laczo.
On April 8, 1967, Phil married Connie, and they spent over 57 years together, building a family and sharing a life filled with camping, numerous friendships, and many laughs.
Phil is lovingly remembered by his children: Shannon Liska (Les), and their children Riley (Olivia) and Kelsey Liska; Shane (Bobbie-Jo), and Shane’s stepchildren, Kole (Cayley) and Courtney Slaughter; and his youngest son, Dana.
Phil and Connie also welcomed honorary children into their lives: Ope, John, Charlotte, Liliana, Stuart, and Valentina, who became an important part of their extended family.
Throughout his life, Phil worked hard, taking on various business ventures with his family, including owning and operating the Turbo bulk and gas station, Curly’s Liquor Store, and most recently, Claresholm Carwash, which was sold in July 2023. He also worked as a farmer, maintaining a connection to the land and the farming community. Phil was a dedicated member of the Claresholm Lions Club for many years.
Phil’s no-nonsense approach to life, strong work ethic, and quiet dedication to his responsibilities defined him. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff at Claresholm General Hospital for their care and compassion during Phil’s final days.
A luncheon and celebration of life will be held to commemorate Phil’s life at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4924 3 Street East Claresholm, October 19, 2024 at noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Claresholm and District Health Foundation in Phil’s memory.
