With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Joao (John) Luis Pereira on September 15, 2024. Joao is survived by his sisters, brothers, Filomena, Antonio, Carlos, and Paula, as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Domingos and Maria Natalia Pereira, at the age of eight in Montreal, Quebec.
Joao was born in Montreal, Quebec, on July 28, 1973. He was placed in Quebec’s foster care and moved to Maple Ridge, BC, in the summer of 1984. He was generous, courageous, and brilliant. He gave his love and was a mentor to many.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him. The family will be holding a celebration of life at Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel.
Our family would like to thank you for your prayers and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to the Joao Luis Foundation to help cover unforeseen costs.
