Millie “Bunty” Bakker
1938-2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our mother Millie Bakker on September 21, 2024.
She was predeceased by husband Jim, her parents John and Edna Bolton, her brother Jim and sister-in-law Kay Bolton.
Millie is survived by her sons Joey, Darrell and Jason, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. As well as one sister and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Millie held many jobs over her lifetime but was most proud of having been a telephone operator for MTS in Selkirk for 30 years. She treasured the many lasting friendships she made while working there.
She was always the first to volunteer to help us all out whenever needed.
She was the life of the party and went out of her way to add her special touch to every celebration she attended.
She loved music, singing, cooking, flowers, birds, fishing and the great outdoors.
She had a special place in her heart for all the pets she had over the years.
She was always very active and enjoyed living at the Lions Center where she was very involved with committees for entertainment, birthday parties, barbeques and movie nights.
A highlight for her was going to the Legion on Monday afternoons to play crib with her friend Mary.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Evelyn from the Lions Center, the RCMP, the Paramedics and Gilbart Funeral Home for kindness and swift services.
Though you are no longer here with us
