With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the passing of our mother Maria Marchi at the age of 93. We are comforted knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved, Agostino (2014). Much loved mother to Diego (Karen), Loretta, Orietta (Mark). Nothing brought her greater joy than her grandchildren; Tyler (Rachel), Madison, Julia, Adam and Eric and her great grandsons Carson and Harrison. She will be sadly missed by her sisters in Italy Gina and Graziosa and her in-laws in Canada Giovanna and Phyllis. She is predeceased by brothers Guiseppe, Pasquale, Mario, Graziano, Ottaviano, and Adamo. Cherished sister-in-law to Bruno (Maria), Flora and Bruna in Italy. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and Italy. Mom was always on the go enjoying her walks in the neighbourhood and maintaining her garden. She kept her family well fed with her homemade pasta and creamy risotto. She a was faith filled person who was active in the C.W.L at St. Luke’s Parish. She was an avid swimmer and could be seen in every recreation center in Hamilton for adult swim, “swimming exercise” or soaking in the hot tub. She volunteered many hours driving cancer patients to the hospital to receive treatment and was always willing and ready to help friends in any way she could. Forever grateful for the staff at Idlewyld Manor, especially the staff at Creekside for their exceptional compassion and care. She suffered from Alzheimer’s for many years. Although Alzheimer’s took her memory, it did not take her love, her faith, or her sense of humour. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1919 King St. E. Hamilton on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 2-4pm & 6-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2023 at St. Luke’s Church, 200 Mt. Albion Rd. Hamilton at 10:30am followed by entombment at Bayview Mausoleum.
