Melvin Norleen Obituary
It is with mixed emotions of sadness and joy that our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend Melvin Robert Norleen of Okotoks, Alberta has peacefully passed from his earthly home to his place reserved for him in heaven on September 7, 2024.
Mel was born on October 25, 1948, fourth child to Harry and Jenny Norleen in Regina, Saskatchewan.
On October 26, 1973, Mel married Wendy Klimack in Calgary, Alberta where they started their lives together and were blessed with three children.
Mel was pre-deceased by his parents, stillborn son, sister Lorraine Avison, and sisters- in-law Dorothy Norleen and Dawn Norleen.
He will be missed by Wendy, his wife of 50 years; his children, Duane (Laura) Norleen, Erin Norleen (Malcolm Beattie), and Kirsten (Brian) Blood; and his six grandchildren; Garrison, Emerett, and Maxxum Norleen; and Addison, Jonathan, and Jason Blood. Also missed by his brothers, Ron and Spence Norleen along with many nephews and nieces and other family and friends.
In 1984, Mel, Wendy and their young family lived in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan while working long hours operating their business “Mel’s Diner” in Saskatoon. They sold their business and returned to Calgary in 1991 where Mel secured employment with The Bolt Supply House until his retirement in 2014. In 1992, the family then moved to Okotoks where he resided until his passing.
Everyone who knew Mel was touched by his sense of humor, easy-going manner, warm heart, welcoming posture and his love for family. He had a passion and enthusiasm for games and sports and was always willing to have fun with others. Mel made people feel at ease in his presence with his warm smile and loving disposition.
Mel had a personal faith in Jesus and loved serving others in meaningful ways. He was very touched and impacted by God’s message of grace and lived his life by that example. We thank God for the life of Mel, the love that surrounded him, and the promise of eternity.
