John Rankin Riordon, age 79, of Stratford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Stratford General Hospital. John is survived by his loving wife Judy (Hamilton) Riordon of 58 years. Proud father of Darlene (Roger) Schmidt, Kimberley Riordon and Kevin (Sandra) Braga. Grandfather of Kyle (Jill), Kaitlyn (Steve), Kristen (Jackson), Shelby (Billy), Tyler, Ashley (Mark), Sydney (Dylan), Serena and great grandfather of Morgan, Benjamin, Ryker and a little girl to be born in May. John will be remembered by his siblings Catherine (Olan) Fox, Joe Riordon, David (Kathy) Riordon and the Hamilton-in-laws Johnny Hamilton, Mary Duffield, Greta Jackson, Arthur Hamiton, Wally (Marg) Hamilton, Margaret Fawcett, Lois Tibbits and his many nieces and nephews. John and Judy came to Stratford in the fall of 1973 to start the first Ziebart Franchise in the city, John and Judy worked very hard together eventually selling the Ziebart franchise and maintaining Festival City Motors buying and selling automobiles, John was a partner for many years with Butch Roeder owning Festival City Transmission. John’s biggest passion was his Ford and Mercury older car and truck collection. John was predeceased by his parents Rankin and Pearl (Crandlemire) Riordon and his mother and father-in-law James and Grace Hamilton, John was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Burton and Louis and his sisters-in-law Margaret (James) and Marie (Eldon). Family and friends are invited to a visitation for John on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St, Stratford. The funeral service will be held on Friday March 3, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
