James David Marshall Julia Sophie Marshall
April 15, 1928 – July 12, 2024 January 16, 1937 – May 8, 2015
Together again.
Survived by daughter Gaye (Mike Lahey), son Peter (Carolyn) and grandkids Kaitlin (Justin Carriere), Sara, Gordie & Anna. Known as Nanny & Hon to the grandkids. Jim was born in South Slocan, BC and grew up in Pictou, NS. Julie was born in Iroquois Falls, ON and worked as a hairdresser in Toronto where she met Jim and they married in Iroquois Falls, Ontario on November 15, 1958.
They had 2 children before moving to Calgary in 1970. The family moved to Port Moody, BC in 1978, then moved to Chilliwack in 1996. After the children were older, Julie returned to work becoming Manager of Raymonds Salon in New Westminster, BC. Jim worked for Campbell Soup Co in Toronto, Calgary Power and New Westminster School Board. On Jim’s 80th birthday, he paraglided tandem off of Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, BC.
Jim was predeceased by parents Janie (MacLean) and David Marshall, siblings; twin sister Nina (Georgina) Warren, Thelma (Warren) and Kenneth. Julie is predeceased by parents Sophie and Andrew Filipchuk, siblings Ricky and Alice and survived by Peter [Philipchuk], Kathleen and Steve.
After Julie passed of cancer in 2015, Jim moved from Chilliwack to Burnaby to be closer to family. He lived at Seton Villa Retirement Centre and then to St. Michael’s Care Home where he passed peacefully in his sleep. Their ashes were scattered over the ocean in Indian Arm, Belcarra, BC.
Forever loved and missed by family and friends.
