With great sadness, our family announces the passing of our strong, beautiful and talented mother.
She will be fondly remembered by her children Jean King, Thomas King Jr and Joan Schroeder (Gordon).
Her grandchildren Damini, Keisha (Rayson), Mark, Carey, Gerick (Emily), Shaun, Dean and great-grandchild Ray.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Hilda Branford, her daughter Jennifer Thompson, her brothers Bertie, George, Thomas, Bonnie, LLoyd, Cephus, Noel and sisters Ruth and Phoebe and former husband Rev. Thomas King Snr.
She is survived by her brother Victor and sisters-in-law Norma and Patricia, numerous nieces, nephews and friends around the world including a special long term relationship with Jenna and the Brown family and her church family.
Mom was a schoolteacher at Lodge Community school in Guyana. She was also a trained ballet dancer, a dance teacher and choreographer, responsible for staging several mass games, dance competitions and performances for schools, community groups and national celebrations.
Mom was also a great seamstress, passing on this skill to her daughters. In her later years she was a member of knitting clubs and spent many hours knitting baby hats and blankets which she donated to the Children’s hospital and charitable groups.
She was a loving, doting, protective and caring mother who always put her children first. A person of faith, mom enjoyed worship and communion with her Christian brothers and sisters, and continually strived to live by Christian principles.
I will miss talking to you daily. I will miss my best friend. Even though our hearts are shattered, your love will keep us strong as we honour your legacy.
