Obituary of Iain Bain
On August 22, 2024, Iain Bain, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 86 with his beloved wife by his side. Born in Scotland, Iain was a man of integrity and humour who touched the lives of his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pauline Barton, who was his steadfast companion throughout their many years of marriage.
Iain’s legacy lives on through his daughters, Allison and Gillian and daughter-in-law T’Hayla Ferguson. He was predeceased by his loving first wife, Irene (nee Smith) and was a proud and loving grandfather to Isobel, who brought immense joy into his life. Iain shared a special bond with his stepdaughter, Melanie Barton, and was a loving grandfather to Dexter Commandant. He valued his extended family, including Jennifer Barton (Airion Hume) and Jason Barton.
Iain is survived by his sister, Christine Sime of Scotland. He was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Del Villano (Gary), Janet Lindsay, and his brother Alasdair Bain.
Heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
