It is with great sadness that the family of Barry Owen Inman announces his passing on Aug. 14, 2024, at the age of 63.
He passed away at Fleetwood Place Care Facility in Surrey, B.C. The staff there took wonderful care of him, and said they appreciated his big heart, and great sense of humor.
Barry was born in Plaster Rock, Victoria County., N.B., Nov. 17, 1960. He was raised in Crombie Settlement, by his parents Phyllis Alma (Briggs) Inman and Herbert Earle Inman.
As a young child, Barry spent his summer days chasing chickens in the barnyard or fishing with his alder pole in Crombie Brook which ran through our farm. The coldest days in winter never phased him; he just had to be outside from the time he started walking.
His five siblings catered to him and one of us always would tag along with him. How could we not? Barry had blond curly hair and the biggest, most beautiful blue eyes. He was our precious free-spirited baby brother.
Barry spent his past 32 years in Surrey, so as to be near his sister Leitha.
No matter where he lived, Barry managed to find that special peace and calm offered by nature. He loved wildlife. He often spent time in the woods and always came home laden with treasures, pieces of wood. These treasures became products of his imagination. He was an incredibly talented carver. Many friends, family and neighbours were given creations of his such as canes, walking sticks, wooden bowls and pipes, to mention a few. Lifelike snakes were among his artistic spin-offs.
Barry is survived by his siblings Barbara Inman, Monica Inman Riley, Paul Inman (Colleen), Leitha Moore, and Lorraine Hanson (Dale). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Gregory Inman (Jocelyn Regular), Michael Holt (Kyle), Cheryl Inman (Shane Williams), Jason Inman, Jamie Eldridge, and Harley Moore.
Barry leaves behind a few great-nieces and nephews, Michaela Wright, Kaeden & Kursten Inman, Nathaniel Rioux, Preston, Maddison and Carson Holt.
Among those who will also miss Barry are many cousins, several great nieces and nephews, and his aunt Anna Mae Birnie. He will surely be missed by his lifelong friend, Juri Kolomy.
He is predeceased by his parents and his nephew, Chad Giebel. We are at peace with his passing, knowing that he will be united with our loving mother who passed in 1975 when Barry was at the tender age of 14.
May you soar high with your favourite of birds, Bald Eagles, our dear brother, as you have been peacefully set free.
Kearney Funeral Service, B.C. will be supporting family and friends throughout this difficult time. There will be a viewing for family, with a service by Pastor Layton at 3:00 pm., Thursday Aug. 22, 2024, at Kearney Columbia-Bowell Chapel.
The celebration of Barry’s life will be held at a future date, in New Brunswick, where his heart has always been.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
