Dictated from Kent’s bedside February 19th, 2023:
Kent Edward Matheson, December 25th 1958 – February 23rd, 2023, Age 64.
Kent was known for being the morning show and news host in Parry Sound for over 14 years for Moose 103.3. He is survived by the “love of his life”, Darla McEwen; his children, Kaylee Matheson, Anna Matheson, his grandchildren Elise, Aria, Brooklyn; his brother James in Peterborough and his sister Brenda in Port Hope, the Blanchard and McEwen families, and as “Papa Kent” to Sammy, Jordan, and Maija.
Predeceased by his common-law spouse, Leanne Nielsen, his father George and his mother, Barbra.
“Over 40 years in radio, you meet many different people and even though their names may not appear here, believe me, I remember you and I have a few stories about you. I want to wish all the best to everyone I have ever worked with and give a shout out to the early years of mine here in Parry Sound. Jennifer Ashawasegai (Pereira), James “Jimmy” King, Zane Smith, one of the most entrepreneurial salesmen I ever knew, Lindsay Godin, and the late Ron Beckett. Everyone who knew Ron, knows exactly about Ron.
I would also like to send a kudos out to Brian Prokopec, one of the most intelligent men I have ever met.
Most recently, we were joined by Kathy Jennings, on staff.
I know these plans were not in the works but she is going to be around for a long time. I am happy that you are enjoying her. Please continue to show her your full support.”
In lieu of flowers, Donations to the West Parry Sound Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
