Johnny Swiderski
1947-2024
Johnny Swiderski passed away in LaSalle, Québec on August 20, 2024 at the age of 77.
Johnny was born in Montreal on June 15, 1947. From Grades 8 to 10 he attended St. Mary’s Redemptorist College, a junior seminary in Brockville, Ontario, but, ultimately, he did not pursue his studies there, which aimed at preparing young boys for the priesthood. He returned to Montreal, attended St. Pius X High School, and graduated in 1963. Marked by a sense of responsibility, his professional life began some time thereafter as he took up his first job at Northern Electric (now Northern Telecom). Beyond these early years in business, he joined the team at ADM in Montreal, where he worked faithfully and happily until his retirement. His later years involved looking out for his aging mother with a big heart and an uncomplicated kindness. In his final years, he lived a quiet, humble life.
Johnny was predeceased by his father Jan Swiderski (1971) and his mother Carmela Lono (1993). He was also predeceased by his sister Ann (1946) and his brother Eddy (1961).
He leaves to mourn his brother Sandy (Rachela), his sister Wanda (Nick), and his sister Mary. His nephew and godson Thomas (Heather) and his great-nephew Zachary also mourn his loss along with many other relatives and friends, especially his good friend Mike Wilson.
His life will be celebrated on Thursday, August 29th with visitations from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Yves Légaré (Alfred Dallaire) Funeral Complex, 7200 Newman Blvd., LaSalle. On Friday, August 30th at 9:30 a.m. a Mass will take place in the Chapel of the same complex. The burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery, Montreal, Section C 1049.
The family wishes to thank the LaSalle Hospital Emergency Department for Johnny’s care in his final hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the MUHC Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
