Obituary For Clifford (Al) Allan Hallick
March 27, 1939 – August 19, 2024
It is with great sorrow that the family of Al Hallick announce his passing in Grande Prairie at the age of eighty-five.
Al was born in Steenen, SK. At the age of 6 months, the family relocated to the Valleyview area. Unfortunately, his mother died when he was only three years old, and he and his sister were cared for by his grandparents for several years until his father settled with them on a new farm. Right after finishing school, Al ventured to BC with his uncle to work at various jobs around the province.
After returning to the peace region, he met the love of his life, Ruth, in Grande Prairie. They wed in 1962 and later welcomed four children, David, Leanne, Michael, and Judy.
Al was a journeyman mechanic and fixer of all things. He was an entrepreneur with strong beliefs of honesty, fairness and customer service. He first owned a service station and later, an auto dealership, People’s Automotive. After his retirement from People’s Automotive, Al played a role in the establishment of Tire Pro Inc. He finished his career working as a school bus driver in the County of GP.
Al donated much of his time, coaching, mentoring, and participating in various community groups. In his later years he enjoyed playing senior slow pitch until he was eighty-three. Al gained countless friendships and made many trips around Alberta and the States to participate in tournaments.
Mourning the loss of Al are his wife Ruth, children, Leanne (Larry) Guest, Michael (Kim) Hallick, Judy (Cody) Braun & Lori Martineau. Grandchildren Amanda (Jonathan) Hallick, John (Megan) Martineau, Jeff (Jay) Martineau, Lewis (Justin) Cunningham, Lindsay (Gary) Almquist, Chase (Jenn) Hallick, Jolene Braun & Kyla (Josh) Braun. Great Grandchildren Quinn, Ellie, Dylan & Rosie. Al will also be missed by sister-in-law, Lois Sealey and brother-in-law, Francis Sealey.
Al is pre-deceased by his son David, and sister Joan and brother-in-law Jerry Engels.
A celebration of Life will be held on Monday August 26, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Bear Creek Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Grande Prairie Cemetery. If desired donations in his honour may be made to Prairie Lake Hospice or Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.
