Obituary of Lorne Archibald Burke
We are saddened to share news of the passing of Lorne Archibald Burke on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia at the age of 92.
Lorne will be deeply missed by his wife and life partner, Kay Burke (nee Simpson), his daughters, Carol Mackay (Don) and Jane Schieman (Bill), his five grandchildren – Paige (Matt Hawkins), Burke (Charlotte Crombeen), Blair (Corey Wallis), Kate (Sean Blake) and Brett (Tyler Green) and three great grandchildren, West, Callum and Declan.
Born in Fort William (now Thunder Bay) in 1932, Lorne was raised in Sarnia by his parents Stanley & Marjorie Burke alongside his three brothers Bill (2022), Paul & Tom. Lorne had a remarkable career with Shell Oil Corunna for 42 years.
Lorne lived a life filled with love, joy, and devotion. He spent 65 years of his life married to the love of his life, Kay. Their marriage has been a pillar of strength and a shining example of love for our entire family. Family camping trips, flying grandchildren across the country for weeks stay in Ontario, Kentucky Derby parties in Illinois, family vacations to Disneyworld, Bolger fishing trips or the countless trips with Kay travelling the globe – his heart always remained close to home. Lorne leaves behind a family who will cherish his memory and carry forward the values and lessons he embodied throughout his extraordinary life.
Cremation has taken place. A private family funeral will be held. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia-Lambton or The Sarnia Humane Society.
