It is with heavy hearts that we had to bid farewell to our
beloved René Joseph Landry, 76, of Moncton, who passed away
on Thursday August 15, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital
Cardiac Unit. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late
Léo and Éva (Léger)
Landry.
René was well respected by his co-workers at the
Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, with over 40 years
of service. He was a very professional, dedicated and organized
employee who was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in
several departments as his experience grew. René always
loved a challenge. He began working in the Admission Dept. while still
attending to his studies. He was fortunate to move into the Pharmacy
Dept., then the Distribution Centre, and on to the Accounts Payable
Dept., and returned to the Pharmacy Dept. where he retired. We should
also remember that he played Santa Claus during the Christmas season,
visiting patients in the Dialysis Dept., bringing lots of smiles and
laughter.
René also took on the responsibility of becoming
President of the Westmorland County Condominium Corporation #9 for
four years.
Not an outdoor enthusiast, René was an avid reader
and always had a book in hand. He also loved billiards. You could
always find René at Dooly’s or the Dart Club on
the weekends, or watching his favorite player Ronnie
O’Sullivan on TV. His favorite sport was basketball, and his
favorite teams were the Toronto Raptors followed by the Golden State
Warriors, especially player Stephen Curry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Richard), with
whom he had 39 years of togetherness; his sister, Claudette Cormier
(late Maurice); his sister-in-law, Claudette Savoie-Landry; his
brother-in-law, Guy Martin; as well as his nieces and nephews residing
in Ontario and Québec. He always had the love of their
precious four legged friends, their current dog Maya, as well as their
previous dogs, Sandy and Fluffy.
Besides his parents, René was predeceased by three
siblings: Murielle Thibodeau (François), Dr.
Léo-Paul Landry (Rolande), and
Thérèse Landry-Martin.
There Are No Good-byes, Where Ever You’ll Be,
You’ll Be Forever In My Heart.
A special thank you to Dr. Michel D’Astous, and Dr.
Léo Picard.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) from where
the funeral service will be celebrated on Friday August 23 at 11 am.
Visiting hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 pm only.
René’s final resting place will be at Frenette
Columbarium in Moncton. Memorial donations can be made to the People
for Animal Wellbeing (PAW), or the CHU Dumont Foundation (Pediatric
Dept).
