Obituary
WALLEYN, Lillian – Surrounded by the love of her family, Lillian Mary Walleyn (Cleroux) passed away on Thursday, February 23rd, 2023 at the age of 98. Beloved wife for 52 years of the late Andre Emil Walleyn (1997). She will be lovingly remembered by her family: Gene Walleyn (Pauline), and Carol Walleyn (Dave). She will be greatly missed by her Grandchildren: Gene Jr. and Heather, Kristopher and Cindy, Kelly and Phong, and Grant, four great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. Predeceased by two brothers, Norman (1992), Glen (1978) and one sister Dorothy (1921) along with many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lillian was a classy lady who loved entertaining and always had family gatherings at her place. She was very involved in the lives of her family and extended family; they brought her great joy.
Lillian was born to a hardworking woollen mill family (Frederick Cleroux and Elizabeth Zyvitski) in Renfrew, Ontario in 1924. During the early 40’s Lillian played women’s pro hockey for the Sherbrooke Circo-ettes. She met Wally in Renfrew and they married in 1945 after he returned from the war. One of our mother’s primary roles, in this life, was to be a steady support and organizer to Wally and her family. She mastered the art of packing and moving a household, with kids in tow, as the family made their way from one woollen mill to the next (13) in total finally ending up in Waterford, Ontario in 1966. She was active member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Waterford and then St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Simcoe.
With grateful hearts we thank the caring staff at Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home who tended to all her needs during her stay there.
Friends are invited to visit on Thursday, March 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe. (519-426-1314) Lillian’s funeral service will be held immediately following at 1 p.m. A private family interment will take place.
