Rusch, Thomas (née) May 9th, 1954 – August 8th, 2024
The family announces with sorrow his death in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at the age of 70 years. Son of the late Thomas Rusch and the late Liselotte Rusch (née Murer). Loving husband of Marijke Rusch (née Kotter). Dear father of Ursina and Dennis(Alisa). Predeceased by his parents. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by the Tomiko Lake community. Dear brother of Markus, Monika and Philippe.
Tom grew up in Switzerland in a hotelier family. He lived and worked all his life in the accommodation industry. In 2001 he, together with Marijke, Ursina and Dennis immigrated to Canada where they made a dream come true and bought an own business – a lodge on Tomiko Lake. Tom loved working outside and connecting with guests. For years he was the Vice President of the West Nipissing Snowmobile Club and for many years he was a volunteer firefighter in Crystal Falls. After Tom got sick he had to slow down, but was still involved with the lodge and interested in socializing with the neighbours and friends of the Tomiko Lake community, whom he would meet on his daily walks with the dog.
The family will receive friends on August 14th, 2024 from 12:30 – 2:30 pm at Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home on King Street in Sturgeon Falls. Donations in memory of Thomas can be made to Parkinson’s Canada. Cremation arrangements in care of Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home.
