Cecile Soucy Obituary
Marie Marguerite Cecile Soucy
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marie Marguerite Cecile Soucy, a resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the age of 76.
Cecile was born on Tuesday, February 24, 1948, in McLennan Alberta to parents, Stephanus and Rose Soucy. She was the fourth child of six children. Cecile attended a convent in McLennan, Alberta during her elementary school years, and after five years of attending the convent, she would later attend a public school in Girouxville, Alberta.
Cecile grew up on her parent’s farm helping with farm work and cooking at her father’s sawmill. She also worked by driving grain truck at the young age of 12.
By the age of 17, Cecile graduated from St. Joseph’s in Grand Prairie, Alberta with her diploma for business administration, and before the age of 20 she dedicated a couple of years to Johnson and Presley, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia’s VW dealership.
At the age of 20 Cecile, welcomed her first son Tylor into the world, and 21 months later she welcomed her second son Chance. With two young sons, Cecile’s hard work and ambition lead her to her career with ICBC, where she dedicated 25 years. After this career, Cecile moved to Ecuador and opened up a bed-and-breakfast. When she returned to Canada she worked in the kitchen at the Dawson Creek District Hospital, she then furthered her education and received her aesthetics certification.
Travelling From Spain, to France, Mexico, Bali, Cambodia, Jamaica, Thailand, South America, India, and many more places abroad, Cecile fulfilled her passion to travel and relished in the beauty of the world. Cecile was fluent in French, English and Spanish. She loved travelling abroad and each place meeting new people and new friends. She would take cooking classes to learn the traditional dishes.
When Cecile decided to travel less, she moved to Strathmore Alberta to be with her sister Diane. There her and Diane would be roommates attending dinners, events, and enjoying a Johnny Reid concert. Even being retired in Strathmore, Cecile’s ambition and love for people did not stop. There she volunteered at a senior’s lodge.
In March 2024, Cecile moved back to Dawson Creek British Columbia to be with her sons and her grandchildren. She enjoyed and cherished exploring the wilderness with her son Tylor. Going on adventures, looking for wildlife, collecting firewood, and having an open fire to cook their lunches. She treasured the times spent with her son Chance, going out for meals, long drives, family dinners and conversations about the events of the day.
Cecile‘s most special times were time spent with her grandchildren. Never missing a birthday or special occasion. She treated each of her grandchildren as if they were her own. She took pride in their accomplishments, celebrated their victories, and picked them up when they fell. She held their hearts close to her own and loved them deeply.
Cecile is survived by her children Tylor (Joann), Chance (Jessica); grandchildren Toni (Brian), Chance Junior (Jude-Anna), Madison, Maliah (Cody), J’Zee (Jordan), Jett, and Joel; great grandchildren Elvie, Vera, Delila, Lochlan, Nayvie, and Wrenley; her best friend and sister Diane; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Cecile was predeceased by her parents Stephanus and Rose; brothers Camille, Victor, and Paul; sister Cecile.
May the blessings of a beautiful life lived follow you into heaven. We love you and hold you in our hearts forever and always.
