Obituary of Clarence Burton McFarlane
It is with great sadness that the family of Clarence Burton McFarlane, age 93, of Ratters Corner, announce his passing, which occurred on July 30, 2024, at the Sus Health Centre. Born in Lisson Settlement, NB on December 28, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph and Stella (Wilson) McFarland.
Clarence was a hard worker from a young age, working on the family farm, helping neighbours and family and walking to Sus to shovel snow and clear the train tracks. He later worked the boiler system at Brown’s Paving, ran his own farm, worked in the woods, sold Christmas trees, and rented apartments.
Clarence could be found working side by side with the love of his life, Florence, married 56 years together. Clarence was a great family man. He cared deeply for his nieces and nephews and their well-being and was proud of their accomplishments. Then, along came his own family. Raising the three girls, he was a great father – always kind, caring and loving. Clarence taught us to work hard, look out for each other, have a sense of humor, love music, and enjoy the simple things in life. He loved to reminisce about working with his horses and memories of his lifetime of friends and family. Dad always thought of others and how they were doing. He loved watching hockey, horse racing, boxing, and wrestling.
Clarence is survived by his daughters: Lynn Smith (Dwayne), Lorraine Lucas (Shawn), and Lorna McFarlane (Thomas Armstrong); his grandchildren: Parker Smith, Hayley Bunjebac (Srdjan), and Colton Lucas (Michaella Haynes); his great grandson, Hunter Smith; as well as several Nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Clarence was predeceased by his wife, Florence (McIntosh); his son, Ivan ; his brother, Hazen; his sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Hayward (Holly), Florence McLong (George), Marjorie McFarland, Pearl Bell (Irvine), Helen Wigton (Allan); his nieces: Edith Robinson (Ralph), and Ruby McPhee; and his nephews: Gordon Hayward, Lawrence Hayward, Carl McLong, Joseph McLong, and Kirk Wighton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, (506-433-1176). A graveside service will take place on Friday, August 2 at 3:30pm at Trinity Anglican Cemetery (61 Needle St, Sus Corner, NB).

The Irish Blessing of Saint Patrick
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
