Abraham J. Hunter
The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Abraham at the Timmins and District Hospital on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the age of 62 years. Beloved husband of Rita Pennishish. Loving father of Isaac Bird (Melanie), Fiona Bird, Crystal Hunter and Corbin Pennishish. Cherished grandpa to Caleb Bird, Jacob Bird and Boston Bird. He is survived by his brothers Luke Hunter (Jackie), Robert Hunter (Patsy), Daniel Hunter (Verna) and John Hunter (Joanne). Left to mourn are many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Alex and Rose Hunter and his brothers Edmond, Edward, Allan and Ivan.
Abraham played many roles and was very active in his community. He worked at many different establishments; Air Creebec, Small business owner of a Grocery store, board member for WAHA, Director of Education and councillor and Chief of Weenusk First Nation.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 2-5 pm at the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral service and burial will take place at a later date in his hometown of Peawanuck. The arrangements are entrusted with the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins, Ontario.
