Barbara Akins Obituary
Barbara “Barb” Akins of Claresholm, Alberta passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 22, 2024. On this day we said to goodbye to much loved and incredible individual. She made those closest to her know how important they were. Barb was known for her strength, loyalty and her love for her family, and friends. She will be dearly missed by those that know her. The Akins family ask that she be remembered for the joy that she brough others in life not the sadness of her passing.
Barb is survived by her childhood sweetheart and devoted husband of 51 years Ron Akins and her children Danny Akins (Amy) Tanya Green (Mark) and Crystal Akins-Root (Dean). And by her greatest pride and joy her grandchildren Lyra, Tracy, Quaid, Tory, Jace, Owen, Ava, Ellie and James. And the many other people in our circle that earned the privilege of calling her Mom/Grandma Barb. She will also be missed by her beloved dog Scooter.
Barb’s generous heart had the capacity to extend her love and generosity to so many. She ensured that anyone that came into her home felt this. Her home was filled with warmth, kindness and a home cooked meal. It was her way to think of the needs of others and to do things that showed them how much they were loved, which often resulted in many perfect garage sale treasures that only she knew would make your life better. Her selfless nature inspired and fostered many wonderful friendships.
Barb was a lifelong supporter of the Team Roping community and spent countless hours timing, announcing, opening gates in the practice pen, and doing anything that she could to help at events. She was the biggest cheerleader for her people. She leaves behind a legacy of friendship, family and memories with the people both in and out of the arena.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Claresholm Community Hall, on Tuesday, August 06th @ 1:00pm.
