Victor Rudolf Ernest Michetti Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Victor (Vic) Rudolf Ernest Michetti, a longtime resident of the Peace Region, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
Vic was born in Lac La Biche, Alberta, on Sunday, February 16, 1941, to parents Rudolf and Pierina Michetti, the fifth child in a family of ten children. Vic was raised and attended school in Lac La Biche. He started working at Imperial Bank in Lac La Biche for 3 years. A vacation in April 1963 brought him to the Dawson Creek area. Vic started working for Pacific Great Eastern Railway to earn enough money to make his way home. This turned into a 38-year career in the railway industry. During this time, he met the love of his life, Patricia Dayus. They were married on April 4, 1964, and made the Peace Region their home for the next 61 years. Vic truly loved the area and the people within it.
Vic and Pat had two children, son Alfred and daughter Nicole, and in time, there were four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Vic played and loved watching hockey so much that you didn’t dare interrupt Hockey Night in Canada. He also enjoyed reading, carpentry, and was very involved in his family and their projects.
Vic is survived by his wife Patricia; son Alfred (Lorraine); daughter Nicole; grandchildren Derek (Alicia), Danny (Brianna), Blake, Jordyn; great-grandchildren Elijah and Kellan; brothers Arnold (Delores), Mark; sisters Karen and Helen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Vic was predeceased by his infant daughter Patricia; parents Rudolf and Pierina; brothers Joe, Robert, Italo, Don; and sister Anita.
Vic’s family would like to share their gratitude and thanks to his caregivers at both the Dawson Creek Hospital and Rotary Manor for the wonderful care Vic received.
A service will be held at a later date.
