Hurlburt, Philip Roland Thorne age 61 of Chebogue, passed away at home on July 20, 2024. Born April 13,1963 he was a son to the late Roland Phil Hurlburt and Elva “Joyce” (Duncanson) Hurlburt.
Philip was a hard-working woodsman most of his life and an all-round handyman; always willing to help others. In later years you could find him working in his blacksmith shop creating beautiful items which will be cherished by many. Hockey, baseball, curling, hunting, fishing, listening to bluegrass, and chatting with friends at Tim Horton’s were some of the things he enjoyed throughout his life. From a young age you could find Philip involved in exhibitions, joining family and friends at various ox and horse pulls. He was a lifetime member of the Western Nova Scotia Exhibition.
Philip is survived by his wife, Sally Jo; son, Gregory (Bree), Forest Glen; daughter, Haley (Francis), Amirault’s Hill; his grandchildren who he loved beyond measure, Elias, Olivia, Adelaide, Abbie-Gail, Roland, and Travis. He is also survived by sisters, Elaine (Graydon), Daphne (Paul), Wanda (Melery), Helena (John), Beverly (Kevin), Heather, Bonnie (Fraser); brother, Ricky (Corinne). Aside from his parents he was predeceased by brothers in law, Larry, Lee, and Glenn.
The family would like to thank Dr. P. Cooper and the Palliative Care Team, Dr. David Webster, and Tri County VON. A special thank you to friends, neighbors and our communities, who visited, called, prayed, and brought comfort to our family.
As per Philip’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Burial will be in Chebogue Cemetery on July 29, 2024, at 11 a.m.
