In Celebration of
Zoltan Koran
May 27, 1934 –
February 18, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Zoltan Koran on February 18th, 2023 at the age of 88.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Louisette (née Desjardins), his children Francois (Yalda), Marc (Julie), Christine (Petro), Philippe (Christine) and thirteen Grandchildren Alexander, Nicholas, Frederick, Christopher, Tristan, Nicole, James, Thomas, Simon, Stephanie, Kevin, Lukas, and Maxim.
Born in the small town of Pányok in Hungary, he came to Canada in 1956 studying Chemical Engineering (Forestry) in British Columbia. After getting his PhD in Syracuse, New York, he made his way across Canada doing scientific research and eventually becoming a professor at the University of Québec in Trois-Rivières. He was passionate about nature, world travel, and physical fitness. However, his greatest accomplishment is the family he has built with his loving wife Louisette, and his devotion to his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered fondly for his generosity, his humility, his gentle nature, his love of life, and the way he would make us all feel so special. He was an “eternal optimist”. He will be greatly missed.
The family will welcome you Friday February 24th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM as well as Saturday February 25th from 10:00 AM to noon. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday followed by a reception and refreshments. Location: Belvedere Funeral Complex, 22025 Trans-Canada Highway in Senneville, Québec.
