Laura passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on July 13, 2024 at Bluewater Health after a brief illness. Laura is predeceased by her parents Dorothy and David (Eileen) Guiney as well as her husband Brian, partner Norman, and sister Heather. She will be missed by her siblings Brenda Schmidt and David (Lucille) Guiney, stepson Adam, as well as her nephews Michael (Roya) and Andrew (Krista), niece Katelyn (Jordan) and many others who loved and cared for her.
Laura spent her career taking care of veterans at Parkwood Hospital in London, Ontario and was a dear friend to many of her nursing colleagues who she remained close to in retirement. Laura loved traveling to places like Myrtle Beach, camping trips with the McGuire family, trips across Europe, and down south to Florida in her retirement. Laura loved her animals and spending time with her family and close friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Trillium Villa for their care during her residency there, as well as the compassionate staff on the palliative care unit at Bluewater Health for their kindness during this time. A special thank you to Laura’s dear friend, Elena Grech, who was always by her side to provide friendship and care, especially during her final week with us.
A small celebration of life will be held in the future, details are yet to be confirmed by family. If you feel moved please consider a donation to the SPCA in honour of Laura’s love for animals.
