Evelyn (Lyn) passed away peacefully at Amica Jubilee House on July 3, 2024 with family at her bedside after a long battle with multiple health issues.
Lyn was born in Winnipeg, MB, on March 12, 1934, and was predeceased by her father Samuel McNeil, mother Evelyn McNeil, and brother Doug McNeil and his wife Leona McNeil.
Lyn is survived by her son, Michael Volk of Victoria, BC, daughter, Karen Volk of Calgary, AB, and grandson Tyler of Victoria, BC, cousins Beverley Pilkington and Don Bray as well as many relatives and friends by whom she will be missed.
Lyn was predeceased by her best friend and partner in crime Delbert “Del” Volk on December 21, 2022. During their sixty-two years together Lyn and Del enjoyed several adventurous travels including living in Portsmouth, England while Del, a submariner with the Royal Canadian Navy, received training with the Royal Navy. Lyn described these years as the best time of their lives. They made their homes in Victoria, British Columbia, Redmond, Washington and Scottsdale, Arizona.
A Celebration of Life to honour Lyn will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. Interment to follow at the Royal Oak Burial Park next door. Family and friends are then invited to return to the Sequoia Centre for a reception.
