Jack Ellert of St. Albert and formally from Edmonton, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 at Foyer Lacombe in St. Albert.
Jack is predeceased by his wife Mary (Chabaniuk) Ellert, parents, Andrew and Agatha Ellert, 5 brothers and 9 sisters, and his beloved stepdaughter- Delveen Helfrich.
Cherishing Jack’s memory is his sister Lorraine (Robert) Mickleborough, his stepchildren, Jan (Ken) Butler, Dave (Irene Maxfield) Helfrich, Richard Helfrich and his grandchildren Kyleigh (Jeff) LiPira, Lyndsey Butler, Adam Butler, Dave Butler, Grace (Colin) Topham and Michael Helfrich. His great grandchildren Jaxon, Luci, Sophia and London.
Jack will be missed greatly by his companion and partner, Magdalena Shields along with her family, Monica (Curtis Langard) Halley, Garvin (Gail Dolittle) Shields, Karl Shields, Carol Badura and Sandra Sheilds along with the grandchildren, Dylan, Kirsten, Kenzie, Joshua, Katelynn and Hanna.
There are also many nieces, nephews, family and friends that loved and respected Jack and will miss him.
Jack was shining light to all that knew him. He was a wonderful husband, partner, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle to everyone but most of all a true gentleman.
He was the kindest man you could meet with a great sense of humour, generosity and love that he exuberated wherever he went.
Jack was a passionate gardener for his prized tomatoes. He was also a voracious reader, did daily walks, word searches and the greatest joy of all was playing a game of crib.
He watched every Oiler game and was a huge fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Those wishing to pay their last respects may do so on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in St. Albert Funeral , 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 25th, 2024 in St. Edmunds Catholic Church, 13120-118 Street, Edmonton, AB. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611- Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton, AB.
