Born in Middleton Nova Scotia to James and Marguerite Wickwire. Nancy moved to Halifax with her family in 1944. She attended Dalhousie University graduating with a BA. She then won a scholarship to The Sorbonne in Paris, where she studied and travelled in Europe post WWII.
Nancy married Duncan Fraser in 1956 and moved to Brockville to raise her family and continue her education. Her two main loves were the theatre and the French language. She acted in and directed many plays with The Brockville Theater Guild. When her children grew up she started teaching French again as well as being the co-ordinator for the school board.
She later returned to the more Theatrical World and started the Ghost Walks in Brockville. This started her writing career. She wrote four books Mysterious Brockville 1 & 2, Letters from Paris and March Poems which included her watercolours. She also graduated from Queen’s University with her MA in French and returned to teach there at McArthur College.
Survived by her ister Helen Wickwire-Foster (Halifax), her two children Hugh (Toronto) and Elspeth and Nick Uloth of MacIntosh Mills. Also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society and Canadian Cancer Society will be graciously accepted.
A private family service will be held in Guysborough, Nova Scotia.
