Marlene Ruby Obituary
Jan 19/35- July 16/24
A beautiful soul has departed from our midst.
With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Marlene Marie Emma Ruby
(Riepert), 89, surrounded with love, at Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth.
Along with her husband Albert, she brought her work ethic & organizational skills to the
ownership of 2 hotels & they both always enjoyed their farm.
Marlene was a bright light with a positive attitude & unwavering faith. She cherished her
family & friends & was happiest when she was serving others. She liked to make people
laugh & her nickname of “Tweety” is perfect, as she lit up a room with her effervescent
personality & her love of singing. Her resilience & strength was an inspiration to all who
knew her & her legacy of love & laughter will endure forever. She enjoyed surprising people
& did so right up until the time she completed her earthly journey. She faced challenges
head on & did so with determination & always strived to do her best. She enjoyed walking,
bird watching, gardening, cooking & baking- & hugs! She knit numerous vests & caps to
send overseas- each an original! Always ready to play games & embrace a new adventure.
Left to mourn her loss are children Linda Furtney (Don), Catherine Ruby-Rebelo (Tony),
Pamela Ruby-Hill (Edward) & Dale Ruby (Angie). She was blessed with grandchildren Dana
(Jeff), James, Nicole, Brandon & Tayler & celebrated each of her great-grandchildren,
Hunter, Bohden, Ruby, Aamin, Vera, Asher and extended family. Gathering everyone
together for a home cooked meal gave her so much joy.
She is survived by siblings Pat Schmitz (Hank), Bob Riepert (Shirley) & Shirley Malcho
(John) & “adopted” sister Mary; sister-in-law Sharon Carrothers & special nieces & nephews.
Predeceased by husband Albert (2001), infant daughter Wendy Marie, mother
Kathleen (Lorentz) Kells (Keith), father Martin Riepert, mother & father in law Fanny & Noah
Kropf, sister Connie Hartung (Ron), brother Terry Riepert; sisters & brothers in laws Audie &
Yvonne Ruby, Aurla & Bill Bannerman, Don Carrothers, Earl & Joan & Esther Ruby & Wilma
& Joe Berberich.
We thank you Mom, for all that you were & all that you gave & may you now forever rest in
peace. We’re only saying goodbye…for now…
As her family, we are so thankful to both Care Partners & Rotary Hospice, who tended to
Mom with respect, expertise & compassion. Words fall short in expressing our gratitude.
Support to our Mom & our family was so appreciated & touched each of our hearts.
