A. John Smith Obituary
Arthur John Smith
We are sad to announce the passing of Johnny “the Bean” Smith on July 11, 2024.
John was born in Selkirk on April 11, 1942 the eldest of 8 children. He was predeceased by his father Arthur, mother Margaret, sister Susan, brothers Jimmy, Billy and Brian and his soulmate Adele Snelgrove. He is survived by brothers George and Richard (Melody) and sister Joy, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Johnny worked at the Manitoba Rolling Mills for most of his life, retiring after 30+ years of service. He enjoyed his Harley, hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, his great love Karaoke at the Lord on a Friday night dressed in a Santa suit in December and helping Adele raise her granddaughter, Chantel.
The family would like to thank the staff at Betel Home Selkirk for their wonderful care.
In keeping with Johnny’s wishes no formal service will be held, there will be a family interment at a later date, followed by a celebration of his life.
