Agnes Blain (nee Coveny) passed away at Royal Oak in Kingsville, July 4th, peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 98 years.
Beloved wife of Raoul Blain (2004), and cherished mother of Allan and Lisa Blain, Patricia (2020) and Gary Baird, Rick and Nancy Blain, Dennis and Brenda Blain, Gisele and Doug McLarty and Gary and Sharon Blain.
She was a loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, whom she loved to dote on.
Agnes will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Sister to Rita McCallum (2013), and Aileen (Lloyd DeBot, 2020). She was predeceased by her in-laws, Sophie (Ray), Dona, Clarence (Rita), Rene (surviving Pauline), Alphonse (Betty Ann), Eugene (surviving Madeline), Eileen Desimpel, and survived by Lorraine (Don).
She was a caring, loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and registered nurse in her professional career.
She was caring and loving to all whose lives she touched. You could always expect a thoughtfully planned meal with many sweet treats when visiting her.
Agnes was an RN, Nurse Supervisor and OR Nurse working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham and Head Nurse of ER Dept at Four Counties Hospital in Newbury. She was the oldest surviving member of her graduating nursing class of 1947, and a 50 year CWL member.
She will forever be in our hearts!
Family will receive guests at McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass 11:00 am on Wednesday July 10, 2024 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 26 George Street, Ridgetown Ontario.
Donations made in memory of Agnes to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
