James Alfred Clements, 86 years (Aug. 19,1937) passed away on July 4,2024 at Villa St. Joseph du Lac after a brief illness. Formerly of Melbourne James was predeceased by his wife Doris O’Connell and by his parents, James Clements Sr & Bernice (Doucette). He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
James was a graduate of the Yarmouth Vocational School and worked at the Yarmouth Cotton Mill for many years. After his marriage he moved to Toronto where he was employed at CN Rail for a few years and also drove a tour bus from Toronto to Niagara Falls.
With the sudden passing of his wife, he returned home to be with his widowed mother and remained in the family home until his mom passed. After returning to Yarmouth he worked at the Grand Hotel, drove the Yarmouth Transit bus and worked in several local fish plants.
James enjoyed everyday activities, drove his mom for appointments, outings etc. They would often go berry picking, playing cards and bowling. James enjoyed fishing, and rabbit hunting. He always had a vehicle, and his dream was to get a Blue, Ford Mustang convertible.
He was an easy going kind and gentle person who loved a good joke and liked to tease. He was a fan of the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, and a long-time listener of CIFA Acadian radio station in Clare and earned the nick name of CIFA Jim by the staff at the Villa. He took an active part in Villa activities and outings put on by the staff, attended weekly mass, and music concerts.
Interesting that he would choose the 4th of July to leave us! He did like fire works!
The family would like to thank Dr’s J. Chandler, Arkle, and Dr. Webster for their assistance during his final days.
And special thanks to the staff of Villa St. Joseph where James received excellent care by dedicated and caring staff during his time there.
