Bert, late of Lumsden, SK passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley (2016); parents, Abby and Dorothy; three siblings, Tommy (Dorothy), Ellen (Colin) and Roy (Cathy); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bert is survived by his four children, Barb (Mike), Sandy, Ken (Allison), and Linda (Mark); seven grandchildren, Brian (Robyn), Janice (Trenton), Laura, Justin (Ali), Tylar (Tanmy), Sam, Isaac (Brooke); and four great-grandchildren Charlie, Kinnley, Anson and Henrik. He was the oldest living resident of Lumsden, born at Mrs. Inglis (midwife) cottage in 1932. Bert lived his whole life in Lumsden, was jack of all trades and was known as Mr. Fix it. He worked for the Department of Highways, was a heavy duty mechanic for Shadbolts Garage, and then went on to growing potatoes until his retirement. Bert built his house in 1956 and lived in it until he moved into Meadow Edge House in August of 2023. Thanks to Lorinda and staff for his wonderful care. Bert enjoyed all the visits at his 90th birthday celebration so much that he has requested a private family graveside service. Friends so wishing to make donations may do so to Lumsden Historical Museum, Box 91 (50 Qu’Appelle Drive West) Lumsden, SK S0G 3C0 or the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan Inc., #301 – 2550 12th Ave Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
