Elaine Margaret Heasman
April 26, 1952 – July 1, 2024
Elaine passed away peacefully at Campbell House in Collingwood after a valiant battle with cancer.
She will be forever missed by her husband and best buddy Ross Lawton, their 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, her brothers David (Donna) and Will (Annie), her sister-in-law Denise, and her nieces and nephew, all who she loved dearly.
Elaine will be greatly missed by her close friends Faith Tomney, Robin Winn, Pauline Pasieka, Cathy McDonald and Susan Walker who shared many conversations and memorable times over a meal with a glass of wine or on a hiking trail.
Born and raised in Toronto, Elaine went on to study at Queen’s University. Upon graduating, she began a career at Bell Canada. Elaine married Ross in 1984 and moved to Meaford in 1986 where she operated 2 small businesses. Through the late 80’s and early 90’s, Elaine was a realtor in the Collingwood area and was co-owner of Royal City Realty. Later, Elaine worked as a mortgage broker with National Trust before running her own business as an investment advisor.
After retirement, winters were spent at their Arizona home where Elaine enjoyed hiking and going to yoga classes, both passions of hers. As an avid reader, Elaine could be counted onto pass along book suggestions.
Thank you to the staff at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and Campbell House who provided excellent care and support through Elaine’s final days. A special thank you to Dr. Marion Arthur whose compassionate care and friendship meant a lot to Elaine.
A celebration of life will take place in the coming months.
