David William Wade

With heavy hearts we bid goodbye to David, who passed peacefully on Tuesday July 2nd surrounded by family. David has left a mark on many who were fortunate to be touched by him. Dear son of the late Bob and Kathleen Wade was beloved husband of Diane (Hall) and much loved father of Wallace (Andrea), grandchildren Jessica, Kelsey, Lauren, Ben, Melissa, Aiden, the late Connor and Darin; of son Shannon (Patricia), and grandchildren Lucas, Chloe and Liam; and daughter Marilyn (Stephen) and granddaughters Sierra, Joanne and Veronica. He has three great grandchildren, Harper daughter of Lauren and Connor and Emery children of Kelsey (Paul). His grandchildren have cherished memories of a fun-loving, ever-teasing grandfather who was proud of every single one of them. He leaves many nieces and nephews behind. David attended Ottawa Teachers’ College and taught for several years before switching to dairy farming, his first love. He wore many hats over the years. Weekly, he hauled cattle to the sale barn in his red truck and kept busy baling hay for anyone who needed the job done. He spent many years at the Russell hockey rink coaching several teams as well as cheering on his own three players. During later years, he accompanied granddaughter Kelsey to visit several European countries as well as travelling with Diane while she taught in Australia and took an upgrading course to teach English as a second language and joined her to teach English in China. His spirited attitude and fun-loving style made him a favourite wherever he went. He loved the fellowship he developed among strangers. One who never hesitated to offer a helping hand, he leaves behind a host of people who enjoyed his fair and supportive attention. He treasured the friendship, visits and messages he still received from students he taught 50 and 60 years ago. Respect like that is a cherished gift. Very, very sick for only a few days, a lung inflammation originating from years of COPD struggle finally claimed his life. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank St. from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday July 5th. A private family burial will be held later.
