I’m not even sure how to make this post. We are absolutely crushed. Devastated. You are a light in our family. A true depiction of strength, resilience and bravery. You fought harder than anyone on this planet ever has, I know that for a fact. You proved the medical world wrong and you rewrote medical books. You managed to change the views of so many people at the Stollery. You have always been a magnet, everywhere you went. Even nurses at the Stollery would fight to be with you during their shift. The amount of love for you is indescribable.
Now, most have no idea what our life looked like outside of the hospital. I’m thankful we spent more time at home than we ever did at the hospital with you. I’m thankful we got to drive 21 hours to Colorado as a family. We made memories that we will never forget. You were the happiest we had ever seen you from 6 months to a year old. You required no support, you were back to eating on your own and you were truly showing us just how good life really could be, regardless of the challenges we faced. Unfortunately, this screwed up world threw some horrible things at you. You fought sickness after sickness through the winter. Life tried to beat you down. Regardless, you remained happy and incredibly strong. For a girl with a loud cry, you rarely ever did. You remained happy even through some horrible things. I don’t know how you did it. I will probably never understand, but you sure taught us all how to take life and really make the most of it.
Amadea, we miss you so much. I don’t know what we will ever do without you, but I know you would never want us to mope around. I know you would want us to push through this and continue to make beautiful memories. We will always love you for the rest of our lives. We will never forget you, ever.
Have fun playing in heaven with Faith ❤️ We will see you both soon.
In lieu of flowers a donations can be made in Amadea’s name directly to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
A Celebration of Amadea’s Life will be held in October, more details wills follow.
