Markku Victor Ryyppo, born April 21, 1953, most recently of Wedgeport, NS, passed away in the morning hours of June 22, 2024, after a long and heroic battle against cancer. Mark was born to Anja (Mannisto) and Pentti Ryyppo in northern Quebec. The family moved to Thunder Bay when he was a boy, and he grew up there. As a young man, he worked heavy construction in the Carpenters and Joiners Union. He went on to work in a civil engineering company as a surveyor in northern Ontario and Quebec. In 1978 he travelled to BC on his beloved Triumph motorcycle. Collecting British motorcycles was to become a life-long passion. In Vancouver he honed his skills as a general contractor, primarily producing beautiful tilework, ornamental plaster, fireplace surrounds, kitchens, and bathrooms. Mark was one of the first builders in Vancouver to use CAD Design and architects frequently requested his services. In 1989 he met Deborah Hayter, and they were married in 1993 and went onto a very happy union. Three years ago, Deborah and Mark retired to beautiful Wedgeport, NS where Mark felt he had finally found home. Mark is survived by his wife Deborah, his sister Aira, siblings-in-law, nephews, a niece, and loving friends. He was a unique and talented individual. Many thanks to the wonderful palliative care staff at Yarmouth Regional. There will be no service.
