Patrick Donald Newell, Born October 8, 1955, in Guelph Ontario passed away at the age of 68 peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Patrick was a loving husband and father, and the worlds most beloved Papa to his grandchildren. Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, where you could always find them at a beach or campground enjoying every moment of life. Patrick spent the majority of his life as a fisherman, fishing aboard a family lobster boat, however he was also a veteran who spent 5 years serving as a peacekeeper over seas. Patrick was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing and watching a variety of sports. Patrick was predeceased by his loving parents, Robert and Agnes Newell, and his sister Ann Williams. He was survived by his loving wife and best friend of 45 years, Gail Newell (Spurr); his loving daughters, Patricia Newell (Trevor Crosby) of Wellington and Carol Frotten (Avery Frotten) of Yarmouth; grandchildren, Jasmine Muise ( Laya Nickerson), Jennifer Crosby, Jayden Crosby, Jacob Frotten and Abbygail Frotten; his brothers and sisters, Yvonne Leblanc of Wedgeport, Bob (Gretha) Newell of Plymouth, Evelyn Myers of Plymouth, Paul Newell of Wedgeport, and Jerry (Peggy) Newell of Plymouth. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews and cherished friends and in laws. Patrick will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A special thank you to the staff on 4 north of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital and to the VON nurses for their care and compassion . Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium. A Visitation will be Thursday June 6th from 1-2 p.m. with a Celebration of life at 2p.m in the Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A Reception will follow in Jacob’s Loft above Sweeny’s Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Yarmouth Light or Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
