Joyce Isobel Boyd (nee Aris)

Joyce passed peacefully in her 98th year. She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband Jim Boyd. Joyce is survived by her children Cynthia Cox (Steve), Jeff (Florence) and David (Vicki Newbury), grandchildren Andrea (Wylie Clark), Erin Cox, Stephanie (Mark Xamin), Danielle Boyd, Rachael Boyd (Van Bailey), Nathan Boyd and great grandchildren Braydon and Allyson Clark, Sophie, Jake and Patrick Xamin and Stella Bailey and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Isobel Aris, and siblings Jim Aris and Joan Poulter.
Joyce was born and raised in Fort William Ontario. While working as a secretary at Fort William Collegiate she met a new young teacher, Jim Boyd. They married and three years later moved into the Boyd family home in Kingston. Together they loved entertaining their many friends, supporting the arts as patrons and traveling annually to Maine. Joyce’s passions included cooking and working in her garden. She was an accomplished card player who participated in many social bridge clubs including the Cataraqui Golf Club where in 2022 she became an honorary lifetime member.
Joyce’s final years were marked with declining health and she finally had to leave her beloved home. She survived the pandemic while residing at St. Lawrence Place but eventually needed more care and moved to Trillium Ridge, Heritage Unit. Thanks to their staff, especially Paul Larson, for outstanding care and help with Joyce.
We will remember Joyce as a feisty and determined woman. She will be missed.
Joyce’s family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 11:30 am- 12:50 pm, a celebration of her life will follow in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment at Cataraqui Cemetery.
