We are saddened to announce the passing of Dennis A. Christie at the age of 89 on May 13, 2024. Dennis will be deeply missed for his great sense of humor and his unwavering love for his family.
Dennis was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed basketball, hockey, and skiing during his younger years. It was on a ski trip that he met the love of his life, Irene. They married in Banff and later moved to Arizona briefly before settling in Edmonton. There, Dennis had a successful career as a General Manager at CCI Edcon. In 1969, they built their cherished home where they raised their beloved daughters and spent 54 wonderful years until moving into a senior residence in 2023. The memories created in that house will never be forgotten.
Dennis took great pride in his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene (née Ohraniemi); their children, Shauna Marusyn (Neil) and Sandra Reeder (Sheldon); and his grandchildren: Nathaniel (Jaime), Aaron, Samuel, Sadie, and Scarlett, as well as his step-grandchild, Brittany (Dave) and great step-grandchild Jackson. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Agnes (née Nelson), and his brother Ron.
His family will hold a small private gathering in Banff, Alberta, to honor his memory. Dennis will be forever missed, remembered, and loved.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the kind caregivers at St. Thomas in Edmonton and Summerwood Village in Sherwood Park.
