Hugh Robinson Mechin Obituary
Hugh Robinson Mechin, born September 26, 1921, in Oshawa, Ontario, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in the I.C.U. at Kingston General Hospital on Father’s Day, June 16, 2024.
Hugh is survived by his loving family. His daughter Christine Gilmore and her sons Kevin and Sean and his son John Mechin and family Justin, Harley and Rachel. Hugh is predeceased by his son Alan ( Lorraine ) he will be missed by his grandson Matthew.
Early in Hugh’s life he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Air Force in England during World War II. He returned to Oshawa and later married Mary Catherine (Cass) Colville of Bowmanville, Ontario. Hugh was your “go to guy”. If you needed assistance with carpentry, electrical, painting, cars, concrete and more, Hugh would make time to help.
Hugh will truly be missed by family and scores of friends.

A visitation in Hugh’s memory will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. Kingston ON, on Saturday June 22, 2024, from 12:00 – 12:50 pm followed by a chapel service at 1:00 pm. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Air Cadet’s League of Canada
